Intel Security has released Web Gateway 7.6.1.

McAfee Web Gateway (MWG) 7.6.1 is provided as a controlled release. It is a major version that includes new features and enhancements, and resolves issues present in previous versions.

Enhancements include:

  • Use of WCCP for IPv6 – Redirection of data packets that were sent to MWG under the Web Cache Communication Protocol (WCCP) can now be performed using IPv6 addresses.
  • Same handling of group names for authentication in the cloud and on-premise – Administrators can now configure on the SaaS web portal whether to keep domain names for cloud authentication in the same way as on the MWG user interface.
  • Additional scanning depending on media type and malware probability – Passing web objects on to McAfee Advanced Threat Defense for additional scanning can now be performed in a more flexible manner.
  • Sending file reputation scores to a TIE server – Web Gateway can now send DXL messages about the reputation of particular files to a McAfee Threat Intelligence Exchange (TIE) server.
  • New anti-malware engine version – After upgrading to the new version of Web Gateway, the new 2015 version of the GAM engine is used in anti-malware filtering to scan web objects.
  • Updates for public suffixes list – The list of public suffixes used on Web Gateway is now updated in intervals. This list is used for retrieving the suffixes of domain names as property values in rule processing.
  • New properties for IPsec and SSL certificates – Build rules of a finer granularity.
  • User interface available as application – In addition to being available as an applet, the user interface for MWG is now available as a Java Web Start application.
